Dorothy (Basbagill) Lang

Dorothy Rita Marie Basbagill Lang, age 101, wife of the late Joseph Frank Lang, Sr., died Friday evening at Riverside Hospital.  Member of Our Lady of Victory church and was part of the first class of OLV school as well as the initial First Communion.  Dorothy was a three-term president of the Downtown Lions Women Auxiliary, a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, member of the Grandview Civic Welfare Club, St. Vincent DePaul Society, member of the Ohio Dominican Laity, 400 Club and owner of Lang’s 5th Avenue beauty salon.  She enjoyed making rosaries and was a 2001 Community Service Awards Finalist of The Columbus Dispatch. Survived by daughters Rita Marie Lang and Mary Margaret (Wayne); sons and daughters-in-law Paul David and Sharon, Robert C. and Sharon; Michael J. and Pam; sons Joseph, Jr. (Flo) and John E. predeceased her; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great – grandchildren; brother-in-law Bill and Jo An Lang; sister-in-law Margaret and James Gatterdam; numerous nieces and nephews and relatives in France. Friends may call at Our Lady of Victory Church, 1559 Roxbury Rd., Monday 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:45. Funeral mass Tuesday 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, Msgr. Romano Ciotola, Celebrant.  Entombment Resurrection Cemetery.  The family will receive friends after the funeral at Our Lady of Victory Hall.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
