John Thomas Fitzpatrick, age 61, passed away peacefully June 24, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. Graduate of Grandview Heights High School. Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Retired from Columbus Diesel Supply after 30 years of service. John was born and raised in Columbus and was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball teams. He enjoyed reading mystery novels, researching planetary science, fishing, motorcycle riding, and bird watching. Travelling to Chichen Itza in Mexico to explore Mayan ruins and an ocean cruise through the glaciers of Alaska with his wife Rosemary were memories he especially cherished. John’s bright smile and boundless sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Survived by daughter Jennifer Fitzpatrick; grandchildren Cameron and Isabelle Gilliland; brothers Chuck Fitzpatrick (Mary Jane) and Doug Smith; sisters Judy Fitzpatrick and Debbie Rowell (Dean); uncle Michael Pope (Sara); mother-in-law Virginia Ellis; brother-in-law Jon Ellis, Sr. (Cindy); sister-in-law Tina Dawson (John); nephews Gary Ellis, Jon Ellis, Jr., and Steven Fitzpatrick (Rachelle). Preceded in death by his wife Rosemary Fitzpatrick; father Jim Fitzpatrick; mother Patricia Finke; father-in-law William Ellis; grandparents John and Alice June Pope, Tom and Gladys Fitzpatrick. Friends of both John and Rosemary may call at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue; Wednesday, July 11, from 5-8pm.
