Walter Eugene Bowers, Sr., known as Gene or Pop to family and friends, passed peacefully Wednesday, November 21, 2018, surrounded by love and family. A 32nd Degree Mason, Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Owner of B&B Machine, Co. and 38, Inc., and active member and Past-President of the Central Ohio Free-Flight Club; his passion. Eldest son of Herman and Mary Bowers, he grew up in Grandview Heights, Ohio and was a life-long resident of Columbus, Ohio. Survived by wife Nancy (Beck); children Walter Bowers, Jr. (Sharon), Sam Bowers, Cindy Ayotte (Pat) Charlotte Brown, Susan Thayer, and Yvonne Williamson. Grandchildren Beau (Laci), Jonathan (Michelle), Vanessa, Perry, Jason, Logan, Taylor, Lindsay (Alex); great-grandchildren Marley, Kaydence, and Waylon; sister Diane (Myron); nieces Tracie, Sara, Mischelle, Deana, Jenny and nephew David. It is impossible to put into words what this great man meant to those he leaves behind. His son Walter said it best when he called him his “pillar of steel”… He was the most honorable of men who always lived his word. He was a proud and loving patriarch. Even those who knew him for a moment will feel the love he left behind and cherish his memory. Preceded in death by father, Herman, mother Mary, brothers Dean, Don, sisters-in-law Carol, Elvira; niece Teri, nephew Steve. Friends may call at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W.
