Jeno Apathy, “Jenci”, age 61, born in Hungary, died May 21, 2018 peacefully in his sleep, at home after a long battle with Leukemia. Came to America, as a baby, with his parents and older brother, escaping after the Hungarian Revolution to a refugee camp in Yugoslavia and a two year delay in Switzerland, finally settling in Columbus with the help of Boulevard Presbyterian Church. Graduated from Grandview Heights H.S. in Columbus, Ohio. A scholar and athlete in football, wrestling, baseball. Dartmouth, Princeton and Harvard football coaches called to offer him full 4 year scholarships. Accepted Harvard where he played football until injured his freshman year. Worked most of his career at Harvard University, Boston where he continued over many years to take additional courses. Worked summers as a white water raft guide in West Virginia. Enjoyed white water rafting and kayaking in West Virginia, traveled the US and the World, loved music, movies and gardening.
