Joan N. O'Brien, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home August 29th 2016, surrounded by her family. Joan was born July 25, 1930 to John D. and Gertrude E. Crawford in Toledo, Ohio. A graduate of Toledo DeVilbiss High School, Joan attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she met Robert Terence O'Brien. Terry and Joan wed in September, 1950 and raised their family in the Columbus area. Joan was always interested and involved in her community. She was a docent with the Columbus Museum of Art and an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Joan, fondly known by all as "Granny O", was very devoted to her family. She is survived by her 4 children, Kerrin O'Brien, Sally O'Brien, Terry O'Brien (Judy) and Leslie Stephens (Brian); multiple grandchildren; Jenifer Brown, Joseph Miller, Robert Miller, John Beedle; Seth Nelson, Adde Nelson; Allison O'Brien, Kaitlyn O'Brien, Olivia O'Brien; Courtney Stephens, Ryan Stephens; and 10 great grandchildren. Joan also adored her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald B. and Marilyn D. O'Brien, nieces and nephew. At Joan's request, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
