Alpha Corinne Durand, 88, of Worthington, died peacefully surrounded by her loving children on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Sunrise of Worthington. Born January 24, 1924 in Beltrami, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Martin E. and Bertha Larson Johnson. Alpha was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She taught at Bliss College and retired from Xerox Corporation. She was a respected colleague, nature lover, avid antique collector and sports fan, especially the Buckeyes. Alpha was a kind, loving and generous wife, mother and friend. She was the best Mother any child could have had. Alpha is also predeceased by beloved husband, John of 50 years; nine brothers and sisters and son-in-law Daniel Haines. She is survived by daughter, Marti Haines and son, Rick (Lynn) Graves. The family would like to thank Alpha's loving caregivers: the Sunrise of Worthington's entire staff and Heartland Hospice's nurse Anne and Kathy for their exceptional care. Special thanks to Dr. Jacob Conklin and nurse Marie. There will be a private family service and interment in Union Cemetery.
