Barbara Gilchrist Boggs

Barbara Gilchrist Boggs, 81, died peacefully September 19, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. and Helen Gilchrist, and brothers, Charles "Bud" Gilchrist and Jim Gilchrist. Barbara is survived by her husband the love of her life, John Boggs, and their children, Susan Lime (Bob) of Taos, New Mexico, Lynn (Rod) Ebright of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Frances (Tom) Kowal of Medina, Ohio; six grandchildren, Alastair Lime, Jonathan and Francie Ebright, Drew, Lindsey, and Katie Kowal; and sister Linda (Richard) Morse of Delray Beach Florida; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She graduated from Grandview High School, class of 1947 and the Ohio State University, class of 1950. After graduation from OSU, she married John and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Barbara taught 6th grade at Barrington Road Elementary School for 20 years and taught 8th grade at Hastings Middle School for 7 years. Barbara was a long-time member of First Community Church where she sang in the choir for more than 50 years. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Columbus Alzheimer Care Center for the compassionate, care she received during her stay at that facility. A memorial service will be held at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. on September 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm, The Reverend James Long officiating. A reception in Brownlee Hall will follow the service.
