David W. "Bill" Davis, 84, April 25, 2009 at First Community Village. Long-time resident of Grandview Heights and graduate of Grandview Heights High School (1942) and also attended The Ohio State University. Veteran U.S. Army, 70th Infantry Division, WW II and participated in Operation North Wind, know as the "Other Battle of the Bulge". Retired from The John Hayward Company and also worked at The Ohio State Journal. Life member of First Community Church and Couple Circle #20 of the church. Also a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R.) and he was an avid scholar of World War II. Preceded in death by parents Maynard and Eleanor Davis and sister Isabelle Davis. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane L. Davis; sons Dr. Daniel L. Davis (Vickie Murphy), Thomas L. Davis (Christina); daughter Judith A. DiPietro (John); grandchildren Dr. Amy E. DiPietro, Joshua L. Davis (Prutha), John D. DiPietro (Katie), Joseph L. DiPietro (Mary Ann), William T. Davis, Tabitha, Katie, Mark and Rickie Kidwell; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Ann and John B. Decker, Katie Leifeld; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Ave., Grandview Hts., Tuesday 4-7 p.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Rev, James Long officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Community Foundation.
