Elizabeth Jean "Betty" Walz, 94, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2010 at Westminster-Thurber Community. She was born and raised on the farm in Millville, OH, graduate of Miami University, studied art at the Cape Cod Institute, shipbuilding draftsman during WWII, advanced art studies at O.S.U., art teacher in Columbus, and loving wife to Bill for 53 years. Betty was an optimistic, strong, creative woman and a mother to whom family was so important. She was an award winning artist in oils, acrylics, and her lovely impressionist water colors. She was preceded in death by her parents James Seward Cochran and Mary Ellen (Minton) Cochran, husband William John "Bill" Walz, sister Mary Virginia (Cochran) Hamre, and grandson Branden Walz. Survived by her children John (Ann) Walz, James (Carmela) Walz, Carol Cabot and Barbara (Timothy) Maher; sister Rebecca Morrow (Cochran) McClannan, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the DEYO DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Ave., Grandview Hts., Wednesday 7-9 p.m. Graveside service 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, OH.
