Esther Almeda Miller, 97, died January 23, 2015. Born September 21, 1917 to Henry and Helen Miller. Lifelong resident of Upper Arlington. Graduated Upper Arlington High School, then Ohio State University in 1939 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. Member of Alpha Phi sorority. Worked as a commercial artist except for 8 years as a supervisor in the engineering department of Curtiss-Wright airplane factory during World War II. Later worked in advertising for several Columbus area agencies. Esther had many special interests, including horses, boating, music, history, hiking, photography and gardening. Preceded in death by parents, brothers James, Jonathan, Henry and sister Barbara. Esther was the granddaughter of James T. Miller, first Mayor of Upper Arlington. She lived in the old homestead for 33 years. She leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and her very special friends and neighbors of many years. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Ave., Grandview Hts., Rev. James M. Long officiating. Private interment in Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Upper Arlington Historical Society, 2800 Tremont Rd.; Columbus, OH 43221.
