Herman Martin Obituary

Herman Harold Martin Jr (Skip), 83, resident of Pickerington, OH, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2022. Herman was born in Toledo, OH, received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo and an MEA from Bradley University. He began his career designing dies and tooling in college and joined the Forest Products Division of Owens-Illinois after graduation. He was transferred to a paper mill in Valdosta, GA as a Mill Engineer and then moved to Galesburg, IL as an Engine Design Supervisor with Lawn-Boy. Herman was a Professional Engineer in both Illinois and Ohio. He joined Ranco, Inc of Columbus as Vice President of Automotive Products with international responsibilities. After Ranco, Herman worked at Selmix, Inc (manufacturer of beverage dispensing equipment) as Vice President managing a development Center in Atlanta and an engineering center in Connecticut. Herman eventually retired from I.M. Cornelius as an in-house consultant   After a brief time in retirement, Herman became restless and enjoyed a low-key position at Enterprise Rent-A-Car.  After 16 years, Herman retired again in 2021. Herman relished his family and grandchildren, golf, travel (especially to warm, beautiful beaches), cheering for OSU football, theater, music, the daily crossword, and lifting heavy weights at the gym. Herman is survived by his three children, Krista Fuld (Dallas, TX), Gretchen Sharfman (Foxboro, MA) and her husband, Nelson, and Jeremy Martin (Boston, MA) and his fiancé, Beth Foley, and two grandchildren as well as brother-in-law, John Doughty and niece, Amy Doughty, (Toledo, OH). Also, by his former wife, Juanita Martin (Westerville, OH), and former wife, Carole Capocciama (Chillicothe, OH).  He was brother to the late Nancy Burnard and Irene Martin and son to Herman Martin and Wynette Skaff – all of Toledo, OH.
