Ila Jean Smathers, 92, entered eternal peace on Easter Sunday morning, April 20, 2014. Born September 21, 1921. Preceded in death by husband Forest "Shug" Smathers, mother Merle Nelson, long-time friend Lloyd Herd, brothers Floyd (Thelma) Nelson, Kenneth (Mary) Nelson, step-children Shirley Smathers Hensen, Jan (Mary) Smathers. Survived by son Bill (Pat) Smathers, daughters Jeannie (Dave) Walton, Charlotte (Dave) Kensinger; brother Keith (Jonetta) Nelson, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Worked for many years as an office manager and legal administrative assistant. Ila's greatest loves were her family, playing cards and cheering for her Cleveland Cavaliers. She was a member of Boulevard Presbyterian Church and the Grandview Senior Center. The family will receive friends at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Ave., Grandview Hts., Tuesday 5-7 p.m. Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Conner Cemetery in Buchtel, Ohio. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday 3 p.m. at the Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1235 Northwest Blvd., Pastor Preston Shealy officiating.
