Julius August "Gustl" Guggenaster, born 12-28-1914, age 95, entered into eternal life on Thursday November 11, 2010
Preceded in death by his parents, August Leonard and Frieda Gross Guggenaster, brother Bruno, and granddaughter-in-law, Staci B. Wyman. Survived by the love of his life for 72 years, his wife Chrystal, his four daughters, Madeleine Guggenaster of Dallas, TX, Carolyn (Warren Klink) Wyman of Beaux Arts Village, WA, Mary Guggenaster, loving and steadfast care giver in his home, Elizabeth Bozler Noferi of Sudbury, MA. Grandchildren Christopher Neff Wyman, Bert Rathvon Wyman, Burgess Bozler, Lita Bozler, great grandchild Maggie Wyman, cousins, friends and neighbors with special appreciation to John Peterson, Corinne and Mike Reilly, Liz and Jim Shannon, Marge and Gus Rotolo, and Ed Dryer.
Early life was spent in Austria with his mother and grandparents while is father was POW in Malta during WWI. After the war, his family returned to Alexandria Egypt where his father was a cotton broker for a Swiss export firm. After graduating from the French School in Alexandria, he studied engineering and worked in the export business with his father. At the outbreak of WWII his wife wanted to return to her home in Columbus, Ohio and he soon became a naturalized citizen. At Battelle, his engineering skills aided in the successful prosecution of WWII. At GM, he provided superior and improved door locks and concluded his engineering career as Consultant and Sr. Planning Eng. for the new GM plant in Northern Ireland. He served on the board of officers in the Columbus Maennerchor for many years and was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Upper Arlington.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2001 NW Blvd, 43212 on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 1 pm. Visiting hours will be from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the church.
Burial will be at Green Lawn Cemetery following service. In lieu of flowers you may contribute in memory of "Gustl" to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. "Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength! They shall mount up with wings like eagles! They shall run and not be weary! They shall walk and not faint!" Isaiah 40:31
