Jacqueline "Jackie " Haycook (Grogan )'s Story
Jacqueline "Jackie" Haycook (née Grogan), 94, passed away on February 16, 2025, in Hilliard, Ohio.
Born on February 26, 1930, in Middleport, Ohio, Jackie was the daughter of Genevie and Cecil Grogan. She lived a full and vibrant life, cherishing time spent with family and friends.
Jackie had a deep love for reading, which remained an important part of her life even after her vision became impaired. She continued to enjoy books through the State Library of Ohio’s books-on-tape program. She also found joy in traveling, playing board games, and engaging in thoughtful discussions about politics. Music was another passion of hers—she especially loved jazz and hymns.
Faith played a meaningful role in Jackie's life. Her last home church was Bethel Presbyterian Church, where she actively participated in classes, enjoyed the Maxi group, and helped establish Gem Time.
Jackie is survived by her daughters Diane (Bill) Bates and Debbie (Fred) Bakies; grandchildren Rebecca Krutsch, Sarah (Brian)Specht, Amity (Tom) Fenton, Zeke Bates, and Mike Shook; as well as great-grandchildren Hannah, Megan, Adeline and Wyatt Krutsch, Max and Isaac Specht, Cowan Fenton and Eleanor Shook.
Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Ashford of Sturbridge and to Cap City Hospice for their compassionate care. A special thank you goes to Kate from Hospice for being a gift to both Jackie and her family. Jackie especially cherished visits from the Hospice chaplain and music therapist.
Jackie’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Please consider reading a book in memory of Jackie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Bethel Presbyterian Church, located at 1735 Bethel Road in Columbus, Ohio.
