John Brooks Decker, 86, passed away March 15, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Columbus, raised in Grandview Hts. and lived in Lancaster. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. Preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Lester Decker, his brother Robert W. Decker and his aunt Grace Littrell. Survived by his wife and best friend for over 60 years, Ann Leifeld Decker; children Dr. Mindy Holland (Randy), Leslie Decker (Charlie May), Dr. Jon Decker (Patricia), Karen Witham (Mark); grandchildren Alec Holland, Natalie Curtis (Andrew), Lindsey Dupler, Mary and Katy Decker, Matthew Witham (Audri) and Kristen Witham; great grandchildren Liam Curtis and Maxwell Witham; nephews John D. Decker (Susan) and Thomas A. Decker; sister-in-law Betty Decker Harrell. Graduate of Grandview Heights High School (1946) where he participated in sports and was a member of the Brotherhood of Rooks. He received his degree from The Ohio State University School of Business and Administration (1951) where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He remained a life-long Buckeye fan and supporter. He proudly served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. John was a respected and successful executive, working for 30 years at the Westerman Companies in Bremen, Ohio where he became President and Chief Executive Officer before he retired and served on their Board of Directors after retirement. His retirement years were spent traveling and riding his four-wheeler and tractor on the farm he loved. His greatest joy was his family and the love that surrounded him every day. He was a former member of First Community Church and a current member of Rushcreek Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Saturday, 11:30 a.m., Rev. James Long officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rushcreek Presbyterian Church, 1825 W. Rushville Rd., Lancaster, OH 43130 or the First Community Church Foundation.
