John P. Kennedy

John P. “Jack” Kennedy, 94, long-time resident of Upper Arlington and recent resident of First Community Village, passed away surrounded by his family on December 26, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ernestine (Noble) Kennedy and sister Eleanor (Kennedy) Wallis. He is survived by his brother Donald Kennedy (Patricia), son Todd Kennedy, daughter Nan Kennedy Ballein (Keith), son Kevin Kennedy (Martha), seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born March 9, 1921 to Joseph and Teresa (Zahn) Kennedy in Brooklyn, New York. Married to the former Ruth E. Noble on May 16, 1947. Decorated United States Navy veteran with 21 years of honorable service to our country. Purple Heart recipient for injuries sustained in the Philippine naval campaign during World War II. Retired from Toledo Scale in Columbus, Ohio. A humorous and devilishly witty father, mentor, Scoutmaster, and Sailor, he possessed an unparalleled ability to engage with others and personified the loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather in his every waking moment. In a nutshell, Jack Kennedy was like “1000 awesomes.” Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on January 2, 2016 at 10:00 am at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43202, Niches M, Niche 14-B, Chapel “B” (Near the bell tower).
