Joseph F. Van Atta, 80, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Mt. Carmel East from complications from diabetes. He was born September 25, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to the late John and Jessie Van Atta. He was predeceased by his brothers Donald and Robert Van Atta. Survived by his loving and caring wife Doris Van Atta; daughters Joellen (Richard) Simpson, Jerilee (Charles) Lausch; grandchildren Kathryn (Tr) Keen, Kimberlee Nate) Stowe, Matthew Lausch, Rebecca Lausch; great grandchildren Thomas, Bryan and Jenna Keen; sister Julia Turner; several nieces and nephews. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict in the 101st Airborne Division. He retired from Buckeye Potato Chips Co. in 1993. Former member of Avondale United Methodist Church and Whitehall United Methodist Church. He was a Sunday School Superintendent at both churches as well as a Sunday School Teacher. Friends may call at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Ave., Grandview Hts., Sunday 2-5 p.m. where service will be Monday 11 a.m. Pastors Fred Ketner and Harold Davidson officiating.
