Joyce C. Parks

Joyce CorDel "Timanus" Parks passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents "CF" (Cloyd) and Grace Baughman Timanus and sisters Janet Tirnanus and Joan Timanus Bottomley. She will be greatly missed by her husband Jim, daughter Grace, son Tim, daughter-in-law Amy, grandson Kyle, and granddaughter Kristen. Early in life she knew nursing was her calling. She served as a medical missionary in Egypt for four years after graduating from Nursing school at Mansfield General Hospital. She was employed at Ohio State University Hospitals where she was director of psychiatric nursing at Upham Hall. After retiring from OSU, she worked as director of psychiatric nursing at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Dayton and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAH). Her compassionate, unselfish nature will be remembered by all who knew her. She cherished life and had an adventurous spirit. Her church family also held a special place in her heart. As a member of Boulevard Presbyterian Church for over 45 years she was very involved with different aspects of church life including Presbyterian Women, a member of Chapel and Chancel Choir, church school and vacation bible school teacher and was active with Interfaith Hospitality. She delighted in volunteering to help those in need. A memorial service will be held at Boulevard Presbyterian Church on Thursday, February 5th at 4 pm. Pastor James Sledge officiating. Family will meet and greet friends following the service.
