Kathryn Elizabeth (Rice) Thomas

Kathryn "Penny" Elizabeth Thomas (nee Rice), proud 1961 graduate of GHHS and former May Queen, died peacefully on her 73rd birthday after a very short battle against gastric cancer. She is survived by her loving daughter Tani Thomas (in Chicago), sisters Margaret Cordial (Ron), Barbara Bulmer, brother James Rice (Sherry), her nephew, Michael Perry (Leslie) their children, Nicholas and Lauren, and many cousins.  She also leaves behind wonderful long-time friends Delores Alban and Tanya Smith.   She is preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn I. Rice and father, Leonard P. Rice. A life long resident of Grandview Heights until 2015, Penny was very involved in her Central Ohio Weavers Guild (thank you Lois and David)  She worked for many years for the State of Ohio and was very proud to have helped hundreds of consumers with their issues with the utility companies and educating them as to their rights. She was the most loyal of friends and had the most sympathetic of hearts.  She loved all things PBS, following the Peregrine falcons online, obsessing about the weather, and worrying about her child always.  Her legacy is vast and she will never be forgotten. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W.
