Marcia Lee Gantz, age 77, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Marcia was born on September 19, 1945 to George and Nancy (White) Prostinak, and spent her young life in Wheeling, West Virginia, a city she dearly loved. She was the cherished wife of Curtis Gantz; the beloved mother to Katherine (Keith Herbert) Gantz and Tyler (Sarah) Gantz; the adored grandmother (“M-ey”) to Jackson, Beau, Faith, Georgia, Dawson, Callie, and Walker Gantz; the dear sister to Tori Jo (Brian) Calvert; and is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Marcia received her bachelor of arts in English from Heidelberg College, where she met Curt, her husband of 53 years. She received her master’s degree in library science from the University of Michigan, later working as head of adult services at Upper Arlington Public Library. Words of all sorts delighted her: she was an avid poetry reader, and she loved the daily crossword, Jumble, and word search. Marcia’s unique ability to effortlessly spell and write words (in cursive) backward and forward with equal ease was a favorite request at family gatherings. Marcia’s greatest love was spending time with her family. Her garden was always a source of joy, and she was also fortunate to have many wonderful friends. A resident of Grandview and Marble Cliff for 50 years, Marcia was a beloved neighbor and community member. She was funny and kind, and her sincere interest in people made them feel warm and welcome in her presence. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Michele Christensen for her gentle and dedicated care of Marcia. To celebrate Marcia’s memory, the family will receive friends between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00pm on Saturday, Oct. 22 at John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 West 5th Avenue. Arrangements by Deyo-Davis Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.deyodavis.com.
