Marilyn Egel Smith passed away July 17 at OSU Medical Center. She was 97. She was born in Nashville TN to William and Jeannette Egel. Marilyn graduated from Upper Arlington High School and Miami University. After graduation she began teaching in Miamisburg and then the Hilliard School District. She married Thomas Smith in 1952. They were married for 66 years until his death in 2018. She volunteered for years as a Pink Lady at Riverside Hospital. Marilyn later became a licensed insurance agent working for Ed Dressel Agency. She is survived by her daughters Ellen (Chad) Biegler, Carolyn (John) Parrott, three grandsons Craig (Sallie Miller), Jeffrey Parrott, David (Lauren) Parrott and five great-grandchildren, Corinne, Evelyn, Sutton, Bode and Hayes. Calling hours will be Monday July 27 from 10-11 with the service immediately following at John Quint Treboni Funeral Home 1177 W Fifth Avenue Columbus. Arranged by Deyo-Davis.
