Mildred Pauline Speakman

Mildred Pauline Speakman, age 91 of Grandview Heights, passed away December 5, 2010 at First Community Village. Born November 2, 1919 along with her identical twin sister Doris Elizabeth on the family farm near Haven, Kansas. Mildred is the daughter of Carl Stelter and Pauline Dierks Stelter who preceded her in death along with her husband of 54 years, Frederick Raymond Speakman and daughter-in-law Vicki Perez Speakman and nine siblings. Mildred was a WW II veteran, she along with her twin Doris, were in the Army Nurse Corps. They were in Paris, France to celebrate the city's liberation and to experience the joy of the lights being turned on. Mildred was a registered nurse, she worked at Doctors' Hospital North for 30 years. Upon retiring she went to work for the Grandview Heights school system. She was a member of Boulevard Presbyterian Church for 60 years. Mildred was also a member of the Grandview Senior Center, she loved the Jolly Steppers and participated in many activities. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Mike) Budd; sons Mike Speakman and Dr. Paul (Lori) Speakman of Sparks, NV; grandchildren Summer (Kevin) Fisk of Alexandria, VA, Katie & Travis Speakman, Andrew & Amy Speakman of Sparks, NV; great granddaughter London Elizabeth Fisk of Alexandria, VA. Also survived by 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 brother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, 12/10/2010, from 6-9 p.m. at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Ave., Grandview Hts. A service to give thanks for her life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday 12/11/2010, in the Chapel of Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1235 Northwest Blvd. Interment Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Grandview Senior Center, 1515 Goodale Blvd., Columbus, OH 43212.
