Nancy E Lyon

Nancy E. (Cron) Lyon, 77, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2012. Nancy was a loving mother, educator and lover of life. She always had kind words for everyone she met. She graduated from Piqua High School in 1952 and from Miami University in 1956. From college, she began her teaching career in Dayton Ohio. She and her husband Harold moved to Columbus Ohio in 1957 following their wedding. Upon moving to Columbus, she taught school at Jones Junior High in Upper Arlington. During the 1980's she was a room aide, a substitute teacher and a library aide in the Grandview Heights School system. She was loved and admired by many friends and acquaintances. During her years in Grandview, she was active in the Grandview Band Parents, Grandview PTA and Eastern Star. She was also a founding member of the Continental Grousing Society. In 1995 she and Harold moved to The Villages in Lady Lake Florida. While there, she was active in The Ohio Club and The Village Voices and Christian Chorale. In 2010, they returned to Columbus and lived at Worthington Christian Village. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, daughter Rebecca Gloeckner (Robert), son David (Leslie), granddaughter Samantha and many extended family members and friends. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grandview Heights Public Library. Family will receive friends from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursday July 19, 2012 with memorial service immediately following at DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Avenue, Columbus, OH 43212.
