Noah King Obituary

Noah Ulysses King, cherished son of Christopher King and Lou Tomlin-King, and beloved brother of Peter King, died on December 11, 2024 at the OSU James Cancer Hospital of an aggressive form of testicular cancer.  Noah was born on September 21, 1995 in Columbus, Ohio.

Noah grew up in Grandview Heights and graduated from GHHS in 2014.  In 2021 he graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Nuclear Engineering.  After graduation he enlisted in the Navy, passing through Nuclear Field “A” School, Enlisted Nuclear Power and Prototype Schools, and Officer Candidate School at the head of his class. He was commissioned an Ensign on July 12, 2024, achieving the first of many goals for his Navy career. He was scheduled to start Officer Nuclear Power School earlier this month, with the intention of serving a long and honorable career as a Navy submariner.

Even as a child, Noah seemed to have an old soul.  Through the years, he grew into an analytical, reserved, thoughtful, kind, and gentle man.  He was loved, respected, and trusted by all who came to know him.  He had a resolute belief in the honor of public service and the civic responsibility to serve wherever possible.  His interests included geography, world history, science and technology, reading, college football, chocolate chip cookies, all things Ohio, all things Navy, aggravating his brother, rolling his eyes at his father, and long chats with his mother.  His brother Peter has lost his best friend, and his parents have lost a wonderful, deeply loved and completely irreplaceable son.  We will miss him to the end of our days.

In addition to his parents and brother, Noah is survived by: his paternal grandmother Nancy Human, his third grandmother Elizabeth (Sorta) Brinkman, aunts and uncles Pat and Joe Wing, Linda and Michael Tomlin-Brenner, David King, and Alex and Sean McCormick; cousins Christine Wing, Rachel DiMatteo, Tim Wing, Patrick Brady, Jenny Lowe, Luce’ Tomlin-Brenner, Iain McCormick, Connor McCormick, Seamus McCormick and their respective spouses and children.

A memorial service and visiting hours will be held at Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1235 Northwest Blvd, Columbus, Ohio 43212 on Tuesday December 17th at 5:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations to be made in Noah’s name to the Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital in support of testicular cancer research.   https://giveto.osu.edu/makeagift/details/313545
