Dear Vee, I'm sure you will not remember me. My wife Edwina knew you both during our brief stay at Holy Cross in the late sixties.

I just learned of Pat's death. I have not been keeping up with my friends as I should.

I very much enjoyed knowing Pat and it was especially nice meeting someone as warm as Pat on the first job that I had after graduating.

Regards

Pat Shanahan was a wonderful professor and teacher, and gave generations of mathematics (and other!) students at Holy Cross exposure to the frontiers of the subject with both clarity and rigor. He is fondly remembered at this time (and at many others!).

Dear Vee, I have fond memories of the time you and Pat were with me in Chapel Hill. He was a gentleman and a scholar. jim stasheff

Our thoughts are with your family. I find comfort when I lose a loved one to death by reading the Bible. In John 5:28 Jesus said all those in the graves will hear my voice and come out.
