Raymond J. Sanzo, Sr.

Raymond J. Sanzo, Sr, 66, of Grandview Hts., passed away November 4, 2015. Graduate of Ohio State University, B.A., where he served 4 years in the ROTC. Retired Conductor for CSX Railroad with 33 years of service. Former CPR Instructor for the American Heart Association and First Aid and CPR Instructor for the American Red Cross. Served as a Trustee for Living Christ Lutheran Church, Board Director and Secretary for Southside Federal Credit Union and Trustee for United Transportation Union Local 1397. He coached soccer for the Northern Columbus Athletic Association and baseball for the Northern Columbus Intramural League. He was a tutor for the Dominican Learning Center, tutoring international students English as a second or third language. Member of Boulevard Presbyterian Church, C&O/CSX Retirees Club, Columbus Italian Club where he served as Sergeant at Arms, Secretary, Scholarship Committee and was a member of the CIC Championship Bocce team 5 times. Survived by high school sweetheart Monica Alt Sanzo; son Joe (Colleen) and grandsons Matt, Will and Luke; son Dominic and granddaughters Taylor, Olivia and Juliana; daughter Carrie Beasley (Nick) and granddaughter Alexandria; brothers Roger (Jackie) and Ron; beloved nieces, nephews and cousins; friends from the railroad, "Go Fitness" gym, Spanish Class, the Columbus Italian Club and wonderful neighbors. A celebration of life will be held 1-5 p.m. Sunday, November 15, at the Columbus Italian Club, 1739 West 3rd Ave. Columbus, OH 43212.
