Robert T. Ellis

September 7, 1924 ~ December 27, 2014 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Robert T. Ellis, age 90, passed away December 27. Preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Ellis and his daughter Barbara Holderman. Born in Columbus, graduated from South High, and attended OSU. Earned a bronze star in WWII caring for wounded soldiers on the hospital ship the Mercy. After the war he worked in sales for Chester Smith Co., then started his own business, Robert Ellis Kitchens and Baths. His wife, daughters, and a son-in-law worked with him. They had a great boss with great integrity. He was involved in Tri-Village Sertoma and the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, becoming president of Sertoma and church council president. Bob practiced his faith throughout all he did. In his youth, he enjoyed working on his uncle's farm. Bob made annual trips fishing with his buddies to Canada. The 54" pike he caught still adorns the fireplace in the lodge. After retiring he was able to spend his summers at Sapphire Lake, Michigan where many more friends were made, especially the Carlsons, Becks, and Adams. Bob liked fishing, volleyball, euchre, reading, golf, horseshoes, cookouts, meeting new people, and most of all being with friends and family. Loved by so many people, mostly, his wife of 66 years Joanne. He will be missed by his daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy and Frank Beck, Judy and Rick Frawley, Betty and Al Altfater, Dan Jones; his grandchildren and their spouses: Sarah and Adam McCauley, Andrew and Allayn Beck, Robert and Lauri Jones, Kimmy Jones, Adam and Jena Holderman, Brian Altfater and Todd Altfater, and his great grandchildren: Kaitlin, Rachael, and Abigael Jones, Olivia and Rosemary McCauley, Nola and Hudson Holderman. Bob had four daughters and was like a father to many sons. A memorial service will be held on January 2 at 2 pm at UALC, 2300 Lytham Road in Upper Arlington. Memorial contributions can be made to Tri-Village Sertoma, UALC, or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.deyodavis.com.
