Thomas B. Smith, P.E., OSU Associate Vice President Emeritus, died December 2 at age 98. He was a graduate of Grandview Heights High School and The Ohio State University, College of Engineering. He worked at OSU for most of his career and was awarded the OSU Distinguished Service Award in 1989. His long association with the university culminated with the dedication of the Thomas B. Smith Building on campus in 2005. After his retirement from the university, he worked as a consulting engineer until his ultimate retirement at age 90. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn; his daughters Ellen (Chad) Biegler, Carolyn (John) Parrott; three grandsons, Craig (Sallie Miller) Biegler, Jeff Parrott and David (Lauren) Parrott and two great granddaughters. Calling hours will be Saturday, December 8 from 3:00 to 5:00 at JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Ave., Columbus. Funeral service will be Sunday, December 9 at 5:00 p.m. at Westminster Thurber Chapel, 645 Neil Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the C.B.
