Vance Burgess Murphy, age 65, passed away surrounded by his children on April, 7, 2022.
Vance was born in South Williamson, KY. He lived in Merrimac, WV during his childhood, moving to the Columbus area in his adolescence. Vance graduated Grandview Heights High School with the class of 1975 where he made lifelong friends. He lived the majority of his life in Central Ohio. He was a truck driver and loved to be on the open road. Vance loved spending time with his family making bonfires, competing in board/card games, or any game with a ball. He coached his kids many sports teams, becoming a fixture on the field and on the team. He also tailgated them, becoming quite the grill master in the process. Vance played a vital role on his many mens softball teams. He led the team with laughter, and occasionally offended the umpire. Vance is remembered for his infectious laugh, side glances, generosity, care of others. Not excluding of course his secret joy in life to catch anyone by surprise or shock with a good joke or prank.
Vance is survived by his brother Paul Steven Murphy, stepbrother John Frye, stepsister Lynne Lieberman, children Brittany (Matthew) Parsonson, Vance B. Murphy II (Kathryn Dirks), Moriah Murphy, Elijah Murphy (John Parker), Emma Murphy, and five grandchildren. Vance was preceded in death by his father Paul M. Murphy, mother Phyllis K. Frye (T.J Frye), sister Vicki E. Murphy and brother Daniel M. Murphy.
Visitation with his family will be on May 21, 2022 from 2-4pm, 4pm-5pm we will Celebrate the Life of Vance with a service at John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. Fifth Ave., Grandview Heights, OH.
