Walter M. Menendian

Walter Mock Menendian, born November 18, 1939 and passed away January 11, 2015. First child of Evaline M. & Raymond A. Menendian. Adored grandson of Frank & Gail Mock. Lifelong Upper Arlington resident. Ardent OSU fan, especially the 'lady buckeyes' basketball team. U.S. Army veteran; attended Ohio State University & Rio Grande College. Spent 43 years with his family owned oriental rug business, retiring in 2001 to spend more time with his family& gardening. Sixty year member of First Community Church.  Member of Community Lodge #684 F. & A.M.  Founding board member of 'Central Ohio Hot Jazz Society.' Avid accumulator of old radio and TV shows. At one point owned over 10,000 old records! Also an early advocate of collectible comic books. Over the years, he hosted several jazz programs showcasing his record collection and encyclopedic knowledge of the art form on radio stations in central Ohio. Inherited from his father a love of model railroading. His boundless optimism and infectious laugh will be greatly missed. Survived by: Charlaine (wife), Stephen (son, Oakland, CA), Mindy & Jamey Wagner (daughter & son-in-law; Columbus); Martha & Lowell Poland (sister & brother-in-law, Columbus); Philip & Cathy Menendian (brother and sister-in-law, West End, NC). Friends may call at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Ave., Grandview Hts., Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. where service will be Thursday 1 p.m. Rev. James Long officiating. Masonic service will be Wednesday 7:45 p.m. Interment Union Cemetery.
