Newkirk William "Bill" Howard Newkirk, 76, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on May 26, 2014 peacefully in his sleep. Bill was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 14, 1937 and graduated from North High School. In 1960, he earned a bachelors degree in Music from the Ohio State University. Bill was an accomplished pianist, clarinetist, bass clarinetist, and tenor sax player and joined several local bands that traveled the eastern United States. In time, this led to a position as Al Hirt's piano conductor. Eventually, Bill and his family settled in Las Vegas where he was the composer, conductor, and pianist of "The Lido de Paris" show at the Stardust Hotel for nearly twenty years. Bill's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by his four children, Lindsay Todd and husband, Bruce, Amy Pence and husband, Chris, Katie Kaderbeck and husband, Paul and Josh Newkirk and wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Ada, Liam, Spencer, Ella and Jack who all lovingly called him Pop. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on June 28, 2014 at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME in Columbus, Ohio. Family will receive friends at a visitation from 9-10 a.m. The family of William Newkirk wishes to thank the Creekside Hospice and the Cottages of Green Valley.
