Malcolm "Mal" Umbarger, 85, of Columbus, died November 28, 2016 at the Forum at Knightsbridge after a long battle with cancer. The son of Harold and Florence (Au) Umbarger, Mal was born in Mansfield. Following graduation from Mansfield Senior High (The 49er's), Mal attended The Ohio State University. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Mal retired from National City Bank (PNC), Comp USA and the Columbus Dispatch. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #35 F. & A.M. and Buckeye Mac Group. Mal was an avid kite flyer. Along with his caring wife of 53 years, Marge, he will be deeply missed by children Matthew and Melinda (Paul) Hunley; grandchildren Leslie, Eric, Jessica, Christopher and Nicholas; great grandchild Carson, several nieces and nephews . Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers James Umbarger and Dr. Edwin Umbarger . The family will receive friends at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Ave., Grandview Hts., Tuesday 3-6 pm where a service will follow at 6 pm, Rev. Mary A. Curtis officiating.
